Amber Echols is a writer, poet; along with a literacy and speech advocate. She is the author of a Best Book Award Winner for Finding My Voice With a Speech Disorder. Her children's book tells a story about her son, Damarius and how he found his voice. Families are able to follow his journey from Damarius starting speech therapy at age 2 1/2 to when he graduated from receiving speech therapy services. Amber touches on transitioning to school, being teased while learning how to cope, IEP services (Individualized Education Program) and more.
Creative from an early age, Amber has been writing stories since she was a teenager. She took a backseat to writing, but In recent years, she returned to writing with a renewed purpose: to support and encourage young readers through literacy and to advocate for children with speech disorders so they can get the help they need sooner rather than later.
Amber uses writing as a way to clear her mind and express her thoughts in this
noisy world. In 2019, she began exploring new talents and performed poetry at her first open mic and she loved it!
Amber has been organizing book drives to help students at different schools begin or expand their home libraries and instill the importance and a love for reading. In 2022, Amber was a winner of the 2022 Best Book Award the title Children's Picture Book: Softcover Nonfiction.
When Amber isn't creating through her words: she's working as an entrepreneur and enjoying the time with her blended family, making new memories. She resides with her family in Indianapolis, Indiana. Amber is ready to share with the world all of her creativity with her poems, her fiction novels coming soon and more children's books.
